This is a two-volume biography of architect and city planner Daniel Hudson Burnham. Famous buildings by Burnham include the Flatiron Building in New York City and Union Station in Washington, DC. Burnham also oversaw the design of the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893. Additionally, he made several master plans for large American cities, including Chicago and Washington, DC. His architectural firm, Burnham & Root, was among the first to build skyscrapers in the late 19th century.
