He stands alone on a dingy night in a pool of light from a single street lamp contemplating the meaning of the message on the paper in his hand: Come back and you will die!
Who could have sent it to him? There are just so many potentials, so many angry women. Is one of them angry enough to do away with him?
This short story was a submission for Lulu's November 2011 National Novel Writing Month celebration contest. The author was furiously working on a new novel for NaNoWriMo submission when the call came through (email, actually) with the challenge to do a 600 word story.
