Descripción

An Apple Books Classic edition.

Few characters have seized readers’ imaginations quite like Count Dracula of Transylvania, the hero of Bram Stoker’s classic. The 1897 novel put vampires front and center on the cultural map, providing direct inspiration for an entire subgenre of bloodsucker fiction - including blockbusters like theTwilight series and Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles - and spawning hundreds of movie adaptations!

Stoker’s novel is a thrill ride, following Dracula as he moves from Transylvania to England in search of fresh blood, while a small but dedicated group attempts to thwart him. Want more Stoker? Check out his great-grandnephew Dacre Stoker’s 2018 novel, Dracul.

The story is told with the help of the character’s personal diaries. Much better than watching a movie.

Wow! I definitely enjoyed reading this gothic novel! Such a page turner! I have to admit that I had prejudice against vampire and monsters novels in generad. Nevertheless, as Bram Stoker’s Dracula is a classic and the reviews were pretty awesome, I gave it a try. Now I regret not having read it before. We all know this character as we have listened to vampire stories or watched films at some point in our lives. However, you come to really learn Dracula’s true self and his powers after reading this masterpiece. He doesn’t just suck blood using his long and sharp teeth but he’s such a scary creature in every single other aspect! 🧛🏻 The novel takes an epistolary structure which makes the plot more personal as we explore the diverse characters’ perspectives and thoughts. The diaries and letters follow an orderly timeline where we come to know all the details about the process from getting to know Count Dracula and his evil plans to his final days. So the particular and different events ended up leading to the same path. Bram Stoker managed to give us a detailed account of the meticulously planned hunt led by Abraham Van Helsing. However, I found the ending quite abrupt. I was expecting a more impressive ending for Dracula after reading the elaborated follow-up. Overall, this is a great story and I am glad I had the chance to read it.

What a great entertaining read, having grown up with Christopher Lee as a great Dracula it so refreshing to read the original novel. Bram Stoker certainly uses a very vivid imagination as is able to deliver a very cleverly written and entertaining book. Loved it.
